Born May 12, 1954, in Colorado to Avis and Donna Donnell Robertson, Gary was a 1972 graduate of Nocona High School and spent much of his life working, serving others, and contributing to the community he called home.

Gary learned the value and rewards of hard work from his father, a lesson that remained an important part of his life. He spent many years building homes and creating custom carpentry throughout the Nocona area, developing a reputation for working with his hands and taking pride in his craft.

He also worked alongside his family in the oil and gas industry. During the 1970s and 1980s, Gary established Robertson Well Service, owning and servicing wells throughout the Nocona area. In more recent years, he worked as a pumper for Davis and Salmon. He continued to enjoy working on the old wells for as long as his health allowed.

Outside of his work, Gary had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and mechanical projects. He enjoyed raising cattle and goats, farming, and tending pecan trees on his property in Spanish Fort. He also loved hunting and shooting and was a proud member of the Saint Jo Pistol Club. His lifelong interest in mechanics led him to rebuild Jeeps and race his Mustang at the Nocona Raceway.

Gary also believed in giving back to his community. He proudly served with the Nocona Volunteer Fire Department, dedicating his time and talents to helping others. His commitment to his community reflected the same strong work ethic and generosity that characterized much of his life.

On August 10, 1973, Gary married Bonnie Mitchell at Bethel Baptist Church in Nocona, Texas. Together, they shared more than 53 years of marriage, building a life centered on relatives, hard work, shared adventures, and countless memories. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Robertson of Nocona; his brother, Duane Robertson and wife, Karen, of Nocona; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Gary was preceded in loss by his parents, Avis and Donna Robertson, and his brothers, Terry Don Robertson and Randall Robertson. His family and local area will remember him for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, love of the outdoors, mechanical talents, and devotion to those around him.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel in Nocona. Funeral services will take place Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel, followed by interment at Spanish Fort Cemetery.
